BANGOR – The Maine Forest Products Council recognized John Bryant of Holden with the President’s Award at a ceremony on Monday, September 18. The award is given annually to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional contributions to the industry that deserve special recognition.

An active member of the Maine Forest Products Council, Bryant worked his entire 42-year career as a forester on the same lands for five companies that all involved mergers and buyouts (St. Regis, Champion International, International Paper, Sustainable Forest Technologies and finally American Forest Management). The award was presented by Ryan McAvoy, former President of the Maine Forest Products Council.

McAvoy said, “As the outgoing President of the Maine Forest Products Council, it was an honor to recognize John with this award in recognition of his skilled leadership abilities and expertise as a professional forester, and for his service to the Council on our Board of Directors and Communications Committee. John is known for his humor and pragmatic approach to challenges, and for his contributions to the people of Maine’s forest communities.”
