Phippsburg– The Maine Forest Products Council (MFPC) awarded Patrick Strauch, the former Executive Director with the organization’s prestigious Albert D. Nutting Award at a special retirement event in his honor at the MFPC’s 65th Annual Meeting on September 21, 2025.

The award, named for the late Al Nutting, a former Director of the School of Forest Resources at the University of Maine, Maine Commissioner of Forestry, and, incidentally, one of the founders of the Maine Forest Products Council. This award has been presented annually since 1990, to a remarkable group of individuals, each one of them truly unique, but with a common commitment to Maine and its forest industry. The award, presented by MFPC President Ben Carlisle, recognized Strauch for his decades of dedicated service to Maine’s forest products industry through his leadership as Executive Director of the Maine Forest Products Council. The award recognizes his advocacy skills, integrity, and professionalism among his peers as well as his visionary leadership that has strengthened the Council, Maine’s forest industry and the state as a whole.

“Over the years, Patrick has not only advanced the interests of the forest products industry in Maine, but he has set a standard of leadership, collaboration, integrity, and commitment to public service that we are all very grateful for.  His approach is always diplomatic, reasoned, and patient – but unafraid to tackle tough issues or jump into the fray.  He’s left an enduring legacy, and our strong reputation within the State is in no small part due to his character” said Maine Forest Products outgoing President Ben Carlisle.
