Phippsburg – The Maine Forest Products Council (MFPC) awarded Brian Souers of Treeline, Inc. with the organization’s Outstanding Logger Award at its 65th Annual Meeting in Phippsburg on Monday, September 22, 2025.

The award, presented by Mike Howie recognizes an individual who exemplifies a positive image of logging professionalism and has a reputation for honesty and competence with landowners and mills. The candidate must be a Certified Professional Logger or employ CLP crews if logging manually. They must be safety conscious and demonstrate superior on the ground performance.

With its long-standing tenure in the Forestry business, Treeline has consistently adhered to best management practices. They have worked on many industrial and small private landowners and have done exemplary work on implementing silvicultural prescriptions such as shelterwoods, release, thinning, and clearcuts. Harvest plans are created by the foresters and carried out by the equipment operators. Treeline utilizes tree length, cut-to-length, and hand-crews to best fit the equipment to the needs of the forest conditions. The logging crews, many of which have been operating equipment for over 20 years, are trained in the State of Maine Best Management Practices for water quality and work on land bases that are held to SFI sustainability certifications.

“The best way to describe Treeline owner Brian Souers is as a true entrepreneur. Always willing to think outside the box and try new ventures to support his business, the forest products industry, and the Lincoln community.  Other business interests include surveying services, real estate sales, low-income housing opportunities, and creating new products, including hemlock rifle stocks. The next generation of Treeline is in good hands with active involvement and expanded future management by family members.” said nominator Mike Howie of American Forest Management.
