MILLINOCKET – The Maine Forest Products Council recognized Maine TREE Foundation with the President’s Award at a ceremony on Sunday, September 13. The award is given annually to an individual or organization who has made exceptional contributions to the industry and deserves special recognition.

This year’s award is presented in recognition of the work done by Maine TREE Foundation to build and maintain a healthy workforce for the forest products industry. “The entire team at Maine TREE is committed to introducing the next generation to the possibilities of careers in Maine’s forests. They’ve successfully collaborated to integrate forest-based education into classrooms across the state and have engaged students and teachers in hands on learning experiences in the forest” said Chris Fife, MFPC President. “This award provides well deserved recognition of Maine TREE’s work addressing challenges associated with forest workforce development.”

Maine TREE advances understanding of Maine’s forest resources through educational programs and initiatives that promote sustainable forest management and stewardship. With their multifaceted approach to education and training, the future forest industry is in good hands.
