Congratulations to the 2020 golf tournament winners and thanks for the great support from our sponsors

The Wagner team, which came in last in the tournament, thinks they got the best prize of all because they won the toilet paper prize.

We went back and forth, back and forth with the question “Should we have the MFPC Annual golf tournament this year because of Covid -19?

Thanks to our 26-hole sponsors. We appreciate their continuous support of this tournament. Signs were put out at each hole with their company name or logos.

The Council, along with Brian Flewelling from KeyBank ,have run this tournament at the Bangor Muni in Bangor since 2005.   This is a big fundraiser for the MFPC to help keep our dues down each year and is also a great way to get our members together for a fun day.

We wanted to make sure we did not break any of the Covid 19 restrictions nor did we want anyone to get infected.  After talking with Rob Jarvis, the pro at Bangor Muni, we felt a little bit better about what needed to be done to keep everyone safe so we decided to go ahead and have the tournament and we are very glad we did.  We had a perfect day with great weather and had 58 golfers who joined us to play in the tournament.

Golf carts galore were used! With restrictions they were many more carts used during this tournament than normal. No two players, unless they were family members, were able to drive in the same carts. Thanks to our two golf cart sponsors, KeyBank of Maine and Eaton Peabody who helped us out with the extra cost, everything worked out.

Patrick, Peter and I were the welcoming committee at the first hole, greeting everyone as they went by.

With the Covid-19 restrictions we could not have a reception at the end of the tournament to announce the winners.  Our members were not able to sit around at the restaurant after to hash out if they had only made that last putt or had one more eagle they may of won or just sit around and have a drink with their fellow members.  But this did not stop our members Huber Resources, Cross Insurance, Louisiana Pacific and Farm Credit East from sponsoring the reception.  Instead we had bag lunches and waters given to all the golfers and along with an extra free drink of their choice and Ice Cream sandwiches delivered to all in the afternoon.

A tournament is not a tournament without winners and losers.  Thanks to the prize sponsors Weyerhaeuser and H.C. Haynes for helping give money to the top four teams in the tournament.  We did not have a picture of the E.J. Carrier team, which who won second place gross. Thank you to all the players that came out and played at this tournament.
