MFPC Executive Director Patrick Strauch accepts the prestigious W. D. Hagenstein Communicator Award from the Society of American Foresters at the October convention in Utah.

By Mark Doty, Secretary of the MFPC Board

It was my great pleasure to accompany MFPC Executive Director Patrick Strauch to the Society of American Foresters national convention in Salt Lake City recently and join in the applause as he was presented the W. D. Hagenstein Communicator Award for 2014.  I nominated him for the award.

“It’s a great honor and truly a product of all the great work we do together,” Patrick said.

Patrick has a true commitment to spreading awareness about and increasing the understanding of Maine’s forest products industry and is truly an outstanding communicator. From his efforts communicating with various member and industry groups, to his work championing the forest products industry in front of the Legislature, to his media-savvy skills and dedication to increasing the public’s awareness of forestry in Maine, he has helped raise the stature of the forest products industry in Maine and represents everything for which this award stands.
